Subud Ireland

Subud is an international spiritual association of people of all nationalities, cultures and beliefs. The word Subud is a combination of three Sanskrit words: Susila (right living), Budhi (a higher power) and Dharma (our connection to a higher power). The latihan kejiwaan (Indonesian for 'spiritual training') practised by Subud members was first received by Muhammad Subuh Sumohadiwidjojo in Java in 1925. He later discovered that he could awaken this experience in others, who could then pass it on in turn.The latihan is an experience through which members receive direct contact with the Great Life Force. Subud has no doctrine, teachings or belief system. There is no membership fee, and all contributions are voluntary.Subud was established in Indonesia in 1947 to support those practising the latihan, and it began spreading globally in 1957. Today, there are Subud organisations in over 50 countries, and the contact continues to be passed on in its original form. Subud Ireland / Subud Éireann was founded in 1973.
