Subud Ireland
Subud is an international spiritual association of people of all nationalities, cultures and beliefs. The word 'Subud' is a combination of the Sanskrit words susila (right living), budhi (a higher power) and dharma (our connection to a higher power). The 'latihan kejiwaan' ('spiritual training' in Indonesian) practised by Subud members was first received by Muhammad Subuh Sumohadiwidjojo in Java in 1925. He later discovered that he could pass on the experience to others, who in their turn could pass it on.The latihan is an experience, not a teaching; Subud has no doctrine or belief system.Subud was established in 1947 in Indonesia to support those practising the latihan and spread around the world in 1957. Today, it is established in over fifty countries, and the contact is still passed on in its original form. Subud Ireland was founded in 1973.
